Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cell Therapy

Researchers discovered that the umbilical cord blood is a good source for growing and cultivating stem cells. Newborn infants doesn't need their umbilical cord so it is discarded as per request by the parent. Scientists extract stem cells from the blood found inside it and then stores them for future use like treatment and researches. Only highly specialized hostpitals and facilities do this procedure and they call it 'cord blood donation'.The stem cells that are extracted are then cultivated for preparation for treatment, they produce different types of cells acording to the need of the patient. Umbilical cord stem cells are now being used to improve the condition if not cure the patient with diseases like Alzheimer's Disease, Cancer, Spinal Cord Injuries, Lymphoma, Leukemia, and other disorders that man are experiencing today.
It is also more safe to conduct rather than using bone marrow transplant which involves surgery and the terminal risk is has. When the cells of donor's bone marrow didn't matched with recipient it could lead to death, the immune cells might percieve the cells of the patient as foreign body thus it attacks them which could lead to serious results. However, cord-blood cells doesn't have a developed immune cells yet reducing the risk of rejection in the procedure. Plus, the stem cells found in the umbilical cord are faster to regenerate or replacte and easier to develop into diferrent types. A time in the future will come where human will have a higher chance of surviving serious and life-treathening diseases and the doctors and experts are working hard for that.
The cord blood donation process is a very simple process and will not put the life of the baby into danger. And there are no ethical isssues surrounding the process unlike 'embryonic stem cells' which directly extracts stem cells from an embryo. Debates and questions are arousing because of that whether it is ethical or unethical. Amongst the three kinds of stem cell production namely bone marrow transplant, embryonic stem cell and umbilical cord blood stem cells the latter one is the best choice there would be.
